Whats "Dass Wassup"?

It would've seemed like a normal friday night at "the island" (aka my home humorously named the island of misfit toys, because of all the broken toys that sleep, eat, shower and chill here). However, this was no ordinary friday night.  It wasn't unusual in most areas.  The TV and shows were the same as the tivo usually records them. The vibe was chill as usual. Everyone was on some sort of electronic device (including but not limited too iphone, evo, laptops, androids, itouch, etc) as per the normal protocol.  Yup, most things were in order. The only thing that was a bit diff was when I looked to my left.  That made this friday a bit odd.  It was when I looked over to my left.  It made all the difference in the world.  To my left sat Prolific, P Grizzy and Sir Lance a lot from the band "The Broken".

The Broken just got done doing an acoustic set at a local coffee house.  This coming off the tail of laying down their hottest tracks down in Conrad's (of Chris & Conrad) studio.  This band of dynamic musician and lyricists have been touring college campuses, coffee houses and such spreading a message of good news. Yet they sit here on my couch watching the fantasy factory and eating my ice cream.  It is a bit surreal. NOT because they're touring schedule has made them out of reach for the regular guy like myself. NOT because they command crowds of thousands who scream their name.  Nope.  Its surreal that God would allow me to be in the company of men who would play for a 10 student youth group, ask no money and think nothing of it.   And God has them hanging with me at my house eating my ice cream watching whatever is on my tivo.

It got me thinking about all of the people I meet in my life who are an encouragement.  In the bible there is a story of a man who was left naked and for dead on a road.  2 men walk right over him before we see a "good samaritan" stop, pick him up, feed him, clothe him and give him somewhere to stay. We live in an age where dog eats dog and people step over the person in the road who is hurting.  This is a group of guys who would take of their time to play a small christian coffee house simply because it was an opportunity to share what God has placed on their hearts. I thank God for "good samaritans" like the BROKEN who see a need and meet a need.  I looked over to my left and said out loud...The BROKEN are just chillin in my living room, I should blog about that.  Then I realized I didn't have a blog ( LOL) so I told them I would start one. (Thank you Prolif for helping me with the name!) So here is a blog that is not focused on me or what I do, but the people I come in contact with who remind me that God is constantly at work in this fallen world.  Thank you, The BROKEN, for being the tool God is using to love on those who are hurting and make a youth pastor like me happy for having some extra ice cream.
